Douglas Hazelton came to the Caribbean in 1967 and has lived on the sea ever since. He displayed considerable artistic talent during his early childhood, and has pursued this gift and passion throughout his life. A self- taught artist, he has excelled in exquisite woodworking and unique metal sculpting for years. Today his medium is copper. Using annealing, etching, repoussé and brazing he fashions copper into singularly beautiful sculptures, imbued with iridescent patinas and hues of the ocean.
As his reputation has grown so has his extraordinary floating workshop and gallery aboard his 75- year-old vessel, "Sindbad". His current work may be viewed by appointment. Commissions accepted.
